PICK ’N’ MIX MICE

-

Q In the January issue of Country Queries there is a photograph of a mouse, query entitled ‘A mouse in the house’. I don’t recognise this mouse. Could you tell me what it is? EETB, by email

A A Field reader explains it is not a wild mouse but a Chocolate Fox mouse, displaying a chocolate colour on top and a white underneath. The National Mouse Club, founded in the UK in 1895, has a large selection of recognised breeds, each with a standard for when they are judged. Varieties include Self Lilac, Silver, Dove Tan, Dutch Marked, Banded Marked, Seal Point Siamese Satin, American Brindle, Longhairs and many more.
