Grace Ayson is a fine artist, stained-glass artist and conservator, with experience at the Cathedral Studios, Canterbury Cathedral, and The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) enabled a course and placements to further her skills. As well as restoring historically important windows, Ayson explores the possibilities of traditional techniques and materials to make new and exciting work, but she can also create stunning coats of arms to glaze Baronial halls. FURNITURE AIDAN MCEVOY
Aidan Mcevoy’s relationship with furniture began in his master craftsman father’s workshop. After gaining experience and starting a business, he was awarded a QEST scholarship, enabling him to train at the Edward Barnsley Workshop in Hampshire. His table design [above] was chosen for the coronation celebration in 2012 and was accepted by HM The Queen for the Buckingham Palace summer-house renovations. STONE CARVING TOM BROWN
The QEST supported Tom Brown through a postgraduate diploma in historic carving from City & Guilds of London Art School in 2009. Despite important commissions in Europe, including Sir John Soane’s Pitzhanger Manor and St George’s Chapel at Windsor, Brown is equally capable of carving a perfect and to-scale stone reproduction of a custard-cream biscuit. A member of the Master Carvers Association, the Worshipful Company of Masons and founder, with fellow QEST scholar Tom Nicholls, of London Stone Carving, Brown is now working on portraits of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert for the Royal Albert Hall.
