‘Priceless’ Harrison is Robins late hero

BEAMING boss Mark Yates insisted Cheltenham deserved their ‘priceless’ three points as they ended Bury’s sixmatch unbeaten run.

Substitute Byron Harrison’s 82nd-minute goal was enough to seal the Robins’ fourth home win of the campaign and move them nine points clear of the bottom two.

They had to hit back from a goal down to win for the first time this season, but Yates was thrilled with the response.

“It’s a priceless three points for us and I thought we got what we deserved,”Yates said.

“The lads showed tremendous character after Tuesday night (4-1 defeat by Chesterfield).

“I don’t think Scott Brown has had a shot to save. Bury’s system gets them on the ball, but we stuck at it and the reason we won is the way we responded to going behind.

“It was a poor goal to concede, but to score so quickly told me a lot about the players and I am happy for them.

“We cleared the air on Wednesday morning and the boys showed their spirit. Jermaine McGlashan was a constant threat when we got him in the game and Byron Harrison came on and made a real difference.”

Bury boss David Flitcroft felt his side were worth a draw as they failed to make it three away wins in a row following victories at AFC Wimbledon and Mansfield.

“We have to make sure we are more clinical because we should have left this building with at least a draw,” Flitcroft said.

“We haven’t and we won’t live in the past, we just have to learn from it. We’ll regroup and prepare for Rochdale.

“The first goal for them energised them. If we’d stayed in front for a few more minutes it could have been different. For 20 minutes in the second half they couldn’t get the ball of us, but you have to score in that time or the possession means nothing.

“We weren’t ruthless enough in front of goal, which we were on Tuesday night.

“Clive Platt doesn’t get the goals his workrate deserves, but it was a decent day’s work for him.”

Platt opened the scoring for Bury in the 16th minute, touching in from close range.

But less than two minutes later Ashley Vincent levelled, beating Brian Jensen.

Jensen denied Sam Deering before Nardiello missed the target.

But Harrison was on hand to bundle the ball over the line after McGlashan turned his marker and crossed from the right on 82 minutes.
