“The chance for Ritchie Sutton, he’s about seven yards out with the goal at his mercy but he heads it wide.

“The difference between winning, losing and being in the play-offs and then fighting a relegation battle is such fine lines. We just need more of a killer instinct.”

After a quiet first half Mansfield were able to find their feet quickly after the break but the hosts soon fought back and began to trouble Cox’s side.

With seven minutes played Adebayo Azeez should have scored after being set free by Medy Elito, only to shoot tamely into the palms of Alan Marriot.

The Daggers were having their best period of the match and Rhys Murphy should have done better when Lawson D’Ath’s through ball put him in behind the Stags defenders, only for the striker to scuff his effort.

The hosts had the wind in their sails but couldn’t find the opening goal, with Rhys Murphy shooting high over Mansfield’s bar.

With full-time approaching one goal was likely to be enough to win it but the Daggers couldn’t find the net and had to settle for a draw.

“Well we’re bang in the middle aren't we? I know myself, as an individual, I’m always going to look upwards though and be positive,” said Daggers boss Wayne Burnett.

“Some of the players will naturally look behind them but it's our responsibility to ensure everyone keeps looking forward.

“If we had our shooting boots out we’d have won today and could start looking out ahead of us.

“It’s our job to make sure they don’t switch off now.”
