IT’S TIME FOR THE KEY DEBATES TO BE ANSWERED....

-

AT the end of a season it is easy to identify questions that could and probably should be asked.

They are: 1.Why do we mess about so much with postponements in poor weather? Why can’t we simplify and make much earlier decisions to avoid messing everybody around?

2.Why are UEFA delaying the inevitable introduction of technological intervention by the fourth official? Why get things wrong that we could get right.

3.Why are clubs allowed to use so many loan players? Loans can destroy a club’s identity.

4.What on earth is the point of a transfer window? It just hurts small clubs.

5.Why do we allow fixture pile ups towards the end of a season when games could be played in better weather at the start of the season?

6.Why do we keep talking about a mid-season break when we all know that our bad weather happens somewhere in Dec-Feb and you could never coincide the break with the bad weather. Imagine a two-week break followed by 10 days of snow......

7.Why do we tolerate players who are under contract and who ‘demand’ moves? Every season there is a scene somewhere. If club X wants a contracted player from club Y, they should log a bid and respect the answer. No media bait- ing of fans. No seduction of the player. Buy him and satisfy his club or don’t mess about.

I guess we need these debates and situations to bubble around to help us all to wind our way through a season?! But I’d love to see some of them answered. Football will always generate talking points. I’d just love to hear some new ones.
