HARRY SET TO BECOME THING OF BEAUTY AT POSH
HARRY BEAUTYMAN says he is equipped to follow in the footsteps of Peterborough United’s Non-League alumni.
The League One club have signed 22-year-old playmaker Beautyman from Vanarama Conference Welling United. Beautyman has scored 11 goals for the Wings and last week netted for England C in their 4-2 win against Estonia U23.
His form has impressed Posh enough to snap up the former Leyton Orient youngster on loan with a view to a permanent deal.
Beautyman is determined to be another London Road hit just like returning loanee Craig Mackail-Smith, who re-joins Aaron Mclean up front after three years apart.
Beautyman said:“Playing Non-League football has done me the world of good and was something I needed.
“It’s a different ball game going into full-time professional football so it might take a bit of getting used to, but it’s nothing I haven’t experienced before.
“Now my task is to stay in the League because that isn’t an easy challenge. But I’ll be working hard every day.
“Ever since I dropped out of the League it was my aim to get back.
“Obviously it’s taken a little bit of time but I’ve grown as a player, learnt the game and gained plenty of experience.
“My parents are over the moon. My mum got a bit upset when I told them I was moving away, so did my missus, but it’s only an hour-and-a-half down the road.
“They’re made up for me. They’ve seen the work I’ve put in behind closed doors and that I wanted this so bad. To finally get the opportunity makes it so much sweeter.”
Mackail-Smith and Mclean both learnt their trades in Non-League football.
Between 2007-11 they scored a combined 183 goals for Peterborough as the club won two promotions.
Both are back on loan from Brighton and Bradford respectively, and chairman Darragh MacAnthony said: “This isn’t nostalgia at play. Both Craig and Aaron will be brilliant for our other three young strikers to work with in training.”
