ROVERS KEEP AN EYE ON RICHIE
BRISTOL ROVERS boss Darrell Clarke is planning to send youth coach and recruitment consultant Steve Yates across the Irish Sea to cast his eye over Dundalk midfielder Richie Towell.
Towell began his career with Celtic before returning to his homeland in 2012 and boasts an impressive scoring record at Dundalk, with 41 goals in 95 appearances.
And Clarke is keen to get the lowdown on the talented 24-year-old.
“Richie has a good pedigree and is the sort of player who might fit the mould we are looking for,” said the Rovers boss. “We’ve heard some good things about him, but we want to have a look for ourselves and that is probably the next step.
“Steve Yates has been out and about looking at several potential targets since taking up his new role recently and I’d anticipate that he will probably be going over to Ireland to cast an eye over Richie at some point in the future.
“That is where we are at with it at the moment and anybody who says we are talking about deals would be jumping the gun.”
