Born: Milan, 1960 (Age 46) Playing career: A goalkeeper, Zenga started his career at Inter, spending brief spells at Salernitana, Savona and Sambenedettese, before making his first-team bow in 1982. He went on to play 473 games for the Italian giants, winning one Serie A title, two Italian Cups, two UEFA cups and three World Goalkeeper of the Year crowns. He spent five years as Italy’s No.1, winning 58 caps and reaching the semi-finals of both Euro 88 and Italia 90, where he kept a record five consecutive clean sheets. Zenga also won a gold medal at the LA Olympics in 1984. After leaving Inter in 1994, he played 41 games for Sampdoria and 21 for Padova, before finishing his career in the USA with New England Revolution. Managerial career: Named player-coach of the Revolution in 1998, Zenga left to manage Italian side Brera in 2000, then moved to Romania, where he coached first National Bucharest and then Steaua Bucharest. With Steau, he won the title and reached the last 16 of the UEFA Cup. That was followed by a domestic double with Red Star Belgrade, stints in charge of Turkish side Gaziantepspor, UAE club Al-Ain, and a return to Romania with Dinamo Bucharest in 2007. A year later, Zenga joined Italian side Catania and saved them from relegation to Serie B, before notching a record points tally in 2008-09. He then joined arch-rivals Palermo but was sacked after just 13 games. The last six years have been spent largely in the Middle East, with spells at Al-Nassr, Al-Nasr, Al-Jazeera and Al-Shaab, punctuated by a 12-game stint in charge of Sampdoria. Zenga was named manager of Wolves in July.
