Team mates
Best mate at the club? There are three in particular: Alex MacDonald, Liam Sercombe and Ryan Taylor. When I first joined last year, Alex looked after me. We’re both from up north and have a similar background and we’ve got on well ever since. Last to buy dinner? It’s definitely Joe Skarz. He doesn’t buy or pay for anything. He gets a little bit of stick for that, but he’s not bothered at all. He owns up to it and admits he’s bad. Worst dressed? Liam Sercombe comes in some dodgy gear. It used to be really, really bad, but the lads got on to him, so he’s a bit smarter now. We’ve got a new lad, Phil Edwards on loan from Burton, and the first couple of days his gear has been pretty terrible. It was a bright pink top and blue shorts the other day! I don’t know where he gets it from. Dressing room DJ? Chris Maguire puts his phone on the speakers for most matches. It’s normally house music, up-beat stuff to get the lads up for the game. He’s got some decent tunes. He’s never had any complaints from me. Late for training? Dan Crowley has been late a couple of times and has been fined. Joe Rothwell was late this past Friday, but generally the lads are not too bad. If they are late to training, it’s not too doom and gloom because it’s money for the Christmas party. It’s considerably worse, like five times more, if they’re late for match days. Teacher’s pet? I wouldn’t say he’s a teacher’s pet, but Chris Maguire does have a lot of banter with Michael Appleton. They’re always laughing and joking about, though the gaffer is a good bloke to everyone. First on the dance floor? Chey Dunkley is always trying to pull moves out and is always first. He tries his best, but it looks more like a shuffle. I leave it to him and Wes Thomas and stay well clear. Most likely to disgrace themselves at the Christmas party? Nobody is too bad. Joe Skarz doesn’t drink too much. He will have one or two and sometimes call it a night and the lads will be on his back for that. Chris Maguire is a character when he has had a couple. Worst tattoo? Chey Dunkley has a wolf on his arm, but I don’t really know why. I think it’s because he supports Wolves. Partial to a sunbed? Joe Skarz tans quite well. On pre-season tour in Marbella, he was out by the pool in the sun whenever we had a break. Every time you looked out the window he was out there. Going to make the best manager? I would say Joe Skarz again here. He’s in the middle of doing his coaching badges. He’s very professional and I think he wants to go into management. He's very calm and collected. He wouldn’t come into the changing room shouting and kicking things about. He’s also very football savvy.
