Team mates
Best mate? One thing we’re blessed with at Barnet is a great dressing room. So, I don’t think I could pick just one person, I wouldn’t want to upset the others! Last to buy dinner? The tightest person is definitely John Akinde. No question about it! He is just plain tight, doesn’t like to spend a bean. FIFA king? A few claim to be FIFA masters, but I’m not so sure. I am getting mixed messages. Mauro Vilhete, John Akinde and a couple of the young boys, too, but it’s a little beyond me at my age. If you put it in front of me, I’d probably beat anyone, but I have kids now so I don’t play as much as I used too. Chardae is 15, Jaiden is nine and Jaxon is six months. Worst dressed? Oh wow, there are a good few. That’s one thing about the changing room – a lot of bad dressers. Sam Muggleton is up there – ill-fitting and generally disgusting. John Akinde is getting a lot of mentions, but his gear is definitely in contention, too. Dressing room DJ? That would be Shaun Batt. He is the designated DJ and loves it. We go for a bit of everything, although he tends to go for some funky house, hip-hop and R’n’B. Most skilful? Obviously apart from myself, we have a few. Mauro Vilhete is very skilful. Nana Kyei, too, but I would probably say myself. Throughout my career everyone knows that’s my thing. Late for training? More often than not it’s the little car pool of Gavin Hoyte, Curtis Weston, Bondz N’Gala and John Akinde. They come from quite far, but we get on to them a bit. The boys have a dig and get some fines going. Teacher’s pet? Sam Togwell. He is always in the gaffer’s office, always sucking up to him and he doesn’t get any flak. I suppose it’s because he is a senior pro, but it’s disgusting really. None of us like to see that. Worst cook? Most of the boys have their girlfriends, but Ryan Watson is single and I wouldn’t want a plate of his food. First on the dance floor? There’s a couple of tricky dancers floating about. Curtis Weston and John Akinde trust themselves, but it is probably best they leave their moves at home. Most likely to disgrace themselves at the Christmas party? I haven’t seen them yet, to be fair, but I think there are a couple of loose cannons. I can imagine Tom Champion being one. Luke Gambin, too. I’m excited to see it and will report back. Worst tattoo? There aren’t any really. Elliot Johnson has two sleeves, I have a couple as well and a back piece. Never puts their phone down? Ryan Watson is a social media fiend. I’m not sure if he has much of a following, I just know he doesn’t put his phone down. When we’re in the gym, his phone is doing most of the work.
Best manager? James Pearson talks a great game. He is young, but I would say him. Michael Nelson, our captain, knows the game, so I’d say him, too.
