JONES: I’M A FAN OF THOMAS

NEW Hartlepool manager Dave Jones says he tried to sign striker Nathan Thomas while in charge at Sheffield Wednesday.

Last weekend, Thomas, 22, made a welcome return after being sidelined for almost three months with a groin injury. Jones is excited about what he will bring to Pools.

“I tried to sign him at Wednesday, but I left the week we were ready to sign him,” Jones said.

“He’s got good ability and, while he was very raw, I saw something I felt we could build on.

“He’s come here and scored goals and if I see that form, I’ll be more than happy.”
