BIRD’S ON WING TO NEWPORT

RYAN BIRD flew into Newport County this week with manager Graham Westley delighted to have him on board. The striker is his 12th signing of the transfer window.

Bird, 29, joined on a permanent deal from Eastleigh for an undisclosed fee having scored goals for Yeovil, Hartlepool, Cambridge and Portsmouth.

“Ryan has a strong track record in situations like ours and in our league,” said Westley, who also confirmed that 21-year-old midfielder Josh Sheehan has had his loan from Swansea extended until the end of the season.
