TREBLE SHOW SIMPLY THE BEST – RYAN
AFTER his first professional hat-trick in midweek, Ryan Sessegnon has warned Championship defenders there is still more to come from him.
The 17-year-old broke into the Fulham first team last season as a left-back, but manager Slavisa Jokanovic has opted to use him further up the pitch this term.
His faith was repaid as the teen star hit a treble in Fulham’s remarkable 5-4 win over Sheffield United, and the England U19 international believes his pace will continue to give defenders a headache.
He said: “I like playing in an advanced position. I would say I am enjoying it more than playing at leftback.
“With my pace, I think I can use it to get in behind defences and hurt them, so I am enjoying the role.
“To score a hat-trick at my age is a very special achievement.
“Most days after training I will stay behind and work on my finishing and it has paid off.
“Everyone has dreams and goals in football, and to score a hat-trick is right up there. It was probably the best moment of my career so far.”
His hat-trick at Bramall Lane followed his double against Newcastle at St James’ Park last season and Sessegnon believes teams in the north underestimate Fulham.
He added: “I like playing games up north. I think some of the northern teams think we are a bit soft, but we tend to show them we are not and we get the job done.”
Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United have all been linked with a move for the Fulham star, but Sessegnon insists he is happy to repay the faith the Whites have shown in him.
He said: “Fulham are my club, the team where I have come through the academy, the club that has made me a professional.
“So, every goal I dedicate to the fans and the club.”
