HALL ON PARADE FOR U’S AFTER KNEE OP

- By Matt Wright

OXFORD winger Rob Hall is hoping to remain at the Kassam Stadium next season after recovering from a serious knee injury that has kept him out for five months.

The 24-year-old required surgery after damaging cartilage in his right knee in the U’s match against Northampton back in November.

It was the second time in his young career that Hall had suffered such a serious injury. He damaged the cruciate ligament in his left knee while on loan at MK Dons in March 2016.

That came just a few months before he joined Oxford from Bolton.

Hall was available to return for his team’s game at Doncaster yesterday and is keen to help them seal their survival in League One.

Hall said: “I owe a lot more games and performances to the club.

“They took me in at a bad time and I’m not looking to go anywhere.

“It’s up to the gaffer, really – the club have an option on me.

“My head’s on, making sure I’m right for preseason.

“The gaffer has already told me I can have a holiday and that’s it. I’ll be in as soon as it finishes.”

Oxford manager Karl Robinson has already suggested a 12-month extension clause to Hall’s two-year contract at the club will be triggered.

Hall previously worked under Robinson during his time at MK Dons.

They were unhappy he signed for the U’s during his recovery, but he insists there were never any hard feelings.

Hall said: “We’ve always been fine. We stayed in touch and I was speaking to him before he was announced here.

“It is good when a manager comes in who likes you, but at the same time, he’s hard on me to get the best out of me.”
