ELVIS HAS THE BOSS SINGING

CHRIS Powell has steered Southend away from relegation danger and, in Elvis Bwomono, he believes he has a gem.

The 19-year-old is a right-back by trade but has filled in on the left in recent weeks. Former England left-back Powell has been impressed at how the academy product has adapted to his new role.

Powell said: “Elvis is just a diamond of a player. For a young player, he has the attributes to be a very, very good full-back.

“For us to trust him out of position says a lot. People think it’s easy to go on the other side of the defence when you’re a fullback, but it isn’t really.”
