LOANEE MORRELL TARGETS CITY SPOT
JOE Morrell has his mind firmly set on a starting berth at Bristol City next season after a successful loan spell at Cheltenham.
The 21-year-old has developed during the campaign in the middle of the park and even earned two Wales U21 caps during his time at Whaddon Road.
But, with his loan spell coming to an end away at Crewe next week, Morrell has his eye on a starting place at his parent club.
“If you’d told me this time last year I’d come to Cheltenham and play 40 games in League Two, I’d have snapped your hand off,” Morrell said.
“I will go back to Bristol City in pre-season and I am an ambitious person so I want to play for Bristol City.
“If that doesn’t happen I’d be open to anything, and if I end up at Cheltenham I’d be really happy with that.”
Morrell made his debut against Stevenage last September and has nothing but praise for the way he’s been treated by manager Gary Johnson and the whole club.
“I have loved this year,” Morrell said. “It’s been a brilliant learning experience for me and everyone at the club has been fantastic, so I’d like to thank them for that.”
