CAIRNS: I LEARNED SO MUCH

JOEY Barton’s imminent arrival may be the only topic of conversation at Fleetwood, but keeper Alex Cairns’ focus is on showing what he has learned this season.

Barton replaces John Sheridan this summer, with Cairns, 25, looking to build on a campaign where he lost and then regained his starting role.

He said: “It has been a big learning curve for me this season. I think I have manned up – I have stood up and been counted when I have needed to be.

“We have to focus on the (rest of the season) then we will meet the gaffer and see what he is going to bring to the table.”
