OXFORD TRIO ARE CULLED BY KARL
KARL Robinson has swung the axe already as he clears the decks at Oxford ahead of next season.
Dwight Tiendalli, Ivo Pekalski and Mike Williamson, who all signed last summer, have been informed they are surplus to requirements and will be leaving the U’s.
Former Dutch international defender Tiendalli, 32, and ex-Newcastle centre-back Williamson, 34, have not appeared for the club since January.
Meanwhile 27-year-old Swedish midfielder Pekalski never made his debut for the club after rupturing cruciate ligaments in August.
And, while Robinson has already shown the trio the door, the manager is also planning some large-scale recruitment.
“There have been discussions with one or two others, but we’ll wait to announce the official list,” he said.
“Dwight’s been gone since my second day here and Ivo’s looking at different things abroad..
“I spoke to two managers on Wednesday about some of their players. There will be five players we’ll wait for until the end, but five or six we want to get done early.
“You’re not going to get them all done.
“Just because I’m sat here now saying that doesn’t mean it will materialise, but there are one or two irons in the fire.”
