SHORTCOMINGS ARE LAID BARE AT PROACT

-

THIS game was a microcosm of Chesterfield’s season. An inability to clear their lines properly cost them dear and it is now 17 games since the Spireites last kept a clean sheet in League Two.

The next manager has a huge task to rebuild the squad after back-to-back relegations, with the club set to compete outside of the Football League for the first time in 97 years.

The performance was a brave one, however, and Chesterfield will have a chance to reconcile themselves with their fans in their last home game of the season against Newport.

Wycombe’s resilience away from home continued, making it 11 consecutive games unbeaten away from Adams Park. The Chairboys showed good resolve and mostly dominated the game after falling behind.

Wycombe’s strengthin-depth was also evident as substitute Paris Cowan-Hall caused plenty of problems after entering the fray.

Dominic Gape chipped in with his first goal of the season, and Nathan Tyson’s smart equaliser proved that there is more to the Wycombe attack than Adebayo Akinfenwa.
