MILE Jedinak scored the goal, but manager Steve Bruce hailed ‘wonderful’ Jack Grealish after Aston Villa triumphed at Middlesbrough to edge closer to a Premier League return.

The 22-year-old teed up Jedinak to give the visitors a Championship semi-final first-leg advantage and turned in a dazzling display.

“He gets you off your seat, doesn’t he?” enthused Bruce. “He’s a wonderful talent. He did all the bits and pieces that we asked him to.

“Jack has grasped the nettle in the last four months and you’re starting to see a real worldclass talent. If he keeps progressing, he’ll have a wonderful career.”

Elsewhere, it proved to be a day of draws. Scunthorpe and Rotherham drew 2-2 in their League One first leg. In League Two, Coventry and Notts County finished 1-1, while Lincoln and Exeter played out a goalless draw.

The second legs begin today when Shrewsbury, who lead 1-0, host Charlton in League One.
