NEW Luton Town winger Kazenga LuaLua has set his sights on helping the Hatters continue their climb back through the divisions – with the Championship in his sights. The 27-year-old has played the bulk of his career in English football’s second tier and doesn’t see any reason why Luton, who won promotion from League Two last term, can’t get there. “I’m sure the club, the fans and the players want to be at a higher level because, as a footballer, you want to be at the highest levels, but it takes time,” said LuaLua.
“It seems the club is in the right place. They have a very good manager (Nathan Jones) who knows what he is doing, so I don’t see why not.
“They’ve had a good start to the season as well. When you get promoted from League Two to League One, you have to start to compete with the other teams, and I don’t think there will be any reason why we can’t get promoted to the Championship.”
After beginning his career with Newcastle, it was at Brighton that LuaLua really established himself. He made 183 appearances, scoring 22 goals, for the Seagulls from 2011 to January this year.

The former QPR loanee then spent the latter part of last term with Sunderland, but couldn’t halt their slide into the third tier and was released at the end of the season.
After impressing on trial with the Hatters, LuaLua was snapped up by manager Nathan Jones, who knows him from their Brighton days.
LuaLua, brother of former Newcastle star Lomana, said: “It’s good to sign until the end of the season, to get some game time and enjoy my football.
“I know Nathan from Brighton, and he’s a very good coach. He’s good at what he does, so it made it so easy for me to come in and train with the boys.”
Jones believes he has pulled off a coup by snapping up the talented winger.
“He’s a quick, powerful, potent attacking player which is something that is in rare supply – and is something we felt we needed,” he said.
