The Football League Paper

team mates

- Jayden Stockley Exeter City Forward

Best mate at the club? That’s really tough. There’s a good little car school that about six of us go for coffee every week. There’s Troy Brown, Jake Taylor, Pierce Sweeney, Matt Jay and me, so it’s hard to pick between them, to be honest. If I chose one I’d be in the bad books – I won’t get any free coffees. Last to buy dinner? Matt Jay. It never seems to be his round. He’s one of those ones who’s difficult to pin down. The Fifa king? I wish I could get a game in – my Playstation’s the dustiest thing in the house. I don’t think anyone plays. Nothing on the coach – it’s cards instead. I’m the king of the cards at the moment. We play for who makes the coffees. From Exeter, every journey seems about 10 hours, so you’ve got to have something to keep you going. Worst dressed? Dean Moxey. He wears 2004 sort of stuff, like Dolce and Gabbana trainers. He gets a lot of stick but he just turns up to training in his kit, so doesn’t get battered as much as he should. It’s only away from the club I see how bad he dresses. It’s horrific. You’d have to see it in person to believe it. The pre-match dressing room DJ? Hiram Boateng. It used to be Matt Jay but Hiram’s taken on the mantle – he seems to be our good luck charm at the moment. He plays a bit of everything, like Drake or a bit of Mumford and Sons for me. It’s quite varied. He’s not too selfish, keeping everyone happy. Late for training? Hiram Boateng and Luke Croll – they owe the most fines. They’re late for dinner at away trips as well. They travel in together, so that’s no good. Teacher’s pet? I would say Jordan Tillson just because he gets given an instruction in a game and will fill it out exactly how the manager says – that’s not a bad thing! First on the dancefloor? It’s probably me or Pierce Sweeney. He likes a boogie but he has no rhythm whatever. We had a little do in Newquay not long ago and I was practicing my shuttle runs up and down the dancefloor. There was all sorts going on. It’s not a pretty sight – limbs everywhere. I don’t think there’s any rhythm from any of the boys. Most likely to disgrace themselves at the Christmas party? I would say Dean Moxey. Some of the stuff he says is so funny. It’s close to the bone. There’s not really a bad guy in the squad. No scrappers,

though. The worst tattoo? Pierce [Sweeney] has got a bad one on his leg, some Chinese writing – from Magaluf 2010, probably. Quite a lot have gone in the summer, so I’d say Sweens. Going to make the best manager? I think someone like Craig Woodman. You’d respect him even if he came out with a load of rubbish. He’s a great professional. You just want to play for him, really. He’s someone you get along with. His demeanour’s calm and if he talks to you on the pitch, you listen.
