WOODS SET NEW GOAL BY ROWETT

STOKE manager Gary Rowett has urged midfielder Ryan Woods to concentrate on the attacking side of his game.

The 24-year-old has had a positive impact since his summer move from Brentford, but Rowett wants him to do less defensive work and concentrate on forward play.

The Stoke boss said: “At times, I’ve spoken to Woodsy about keeping himself a little higher up the pitch.

“For Woodsy, sometimes it’s about understanding he doesn’t have to go quite so deep to get the ball, because we know how much of a threat he can be with it higher up the field.”
