ROSS’ OUTFIT SHOW CHARACTER

-

FOR long periods of this game, it didn’t look like Sunderland wanted to hit top spot in League One.

With the prospect of leading from the front in the promotion race had they beaten Wycombe, the Black Cats stuttered and were unable to show the sort of quality required to deliver the three points.

Sunderland allowed Wycombe to play their part and the visitors could have scored before they did. But, like so often, Jack Ross’ side did battle back.

This time they might not have secured the victory – which would have meant a nine-match winning run for the first time since 1996 – but they still avoided a defeat by showing the character to fight back.

Wycombe, on the other hand, will wonder why they can’t do this every week. It was hard to see which of these was in the better position.
