ADKINS KEEN TO SEE BEST OF DAVID
HULL City head coach Nigel Adkins has backed winger David Milinkovic to make a success of his time at the club, despite axing the Frenchman from his 18-man squad to face leaders Norwich.
The 24-year-old, who impressed at Hearts last season in the Scottish Premiership, is a summer signing for the Tigers but is yet to start since joining from Genoa and reportedly turned up late ahead of the 0-0 draw at the KCOM Stadium.
Adkins refused to answer direct questions about Milinkovic’s disciplinary record after the game, but said he hoped the winger would come good for the Tigers over the course of the season.
Adkins said: “I want David to do really well. We talked to him. Discipline’s a big thing that we have at our club. I want David to do well. I’m sure, at some stage, he will do.”
With leading scorer Fraizer Campbell banned for the Norwich game and midfielder Dan Batty injured, Adkins needed to draw on his squad reserves to find experienced players to make up the 18.
But Milinkovic, who was recently sent off playing for Hull’s under-23 side and who has made just four substitute appearances for the first team, has not done his future at the club any good and still has over two years left on his contract.
