BAXTER FIRED UP TO KEEP GLOVERS IN EFL...

-

YEOVIL keeper Nathan Baxter is current evidence that loan players care just as much about the fate of their club as the permanent playing staff.

A six-game losing streak before the weekend’s fixtures has seen the Glovers plunged into a relegation battle, something that the 20-year-old knows they have to front up to.

Few could question the Chelsea loanee’s loyalties, in fact Baxter doesn’t believe it should make a difference that he potentially wouldn’t bear the brunt of relegation personally.

“It’s frustrating when I’m not playing games, but I just want us to stay up, the fact I’m a loan player is irrelevant,” he said.

“We need to get a win for the supporters who’ve not seen many wins here and they’re the most important people at the football club.

“They support us well, they support me well so we all want to go out and produce what we have produced but the result is the most important thing.

“We’re together and have had a lot of talks but it’s time now to stop the talking and produce.”

In the midst of takeover talks, Baxter knows that the most important thing for the club in the here-and-now are results on the pitch.

And after a poor run, the youngster believes the Glovers have to keep their fate in their own hands.

He added: “At this stage of the season we’re all in our houses on a Tuesday night saying ‘what’s the score’ and ‘come on, lads, do us a favour’ but there’s a long way to go and we want to be in a position, as it is now, where it’s in our own hands.

“It gets to a stage where everyone is worrying about other people, but we should focus on ourselves. We need to play better and if we play better we will win games.”
