Bowler also heaped praise on manager Grant McCann, who took over from Nigel Adkins at the KCOM Stadium this summer.

“The gaffer is always willing to talk through what I need to do to improve as a player and analyses what I’m doing in training each day,” Bowler added.

“I know that if I can make an impact when he brings me on from the substitute­s’ bench. It will give me a chance of playing more minutes.”

Speaking prior to yesterday’s game against Queens Park Rangers, who handed him his first taste of senior football at the age of 18, he said: “I only have happy memories of my time there and a lot of the lads that I played with in the youth team are now doing well at senior level.” JOSH Bowler “knew it wouldn’t be easy” to oust Jarrod Bowen or Kamil Grosicki from Hull City’s starting line-up, but he is enjoying learning from the in-form pair.

Bowler, 20, is on a season-long loan from Everton and has featured in nine games for the Tigers in all competitio­ns so far.

He has yet to start a game, however, but is happy to bide his time.

“Obviously I would love to be starting more games with the majority of my appearance­s coming from the bench so far, but I also fully understand that this club has two of the best wingers in this division,” said Bowler.

“Learning from Jarrod and Kamil is going to be an important part of my time here.

“I knew it wouldn’t be easy getting ahead of those two in terms of playing time, but they were two players that I identified that I could learn from before coming here.
