OGBENE SETS HIS SIGHTS HIGH AT MILLERS

- By Jacob Newbury

CHIEDOZIE Ogbene says the target of becoming League One champions is helping keep Rotherham motivated until the end of the season.

The Nigerian-born Irish winger has impressed for the Millers since arriving from Brentford last summer, notching up three assists and finding the net once in his 25 league appearances for the club.

And the 22-year-old says his confidence has grown throughout the campaign, as he looks to boost his side’s promotion chances – if and when the league returns to action.

“We are ambitious. We want to be champions,” said Ogbene.

“The coaching staff are trying to keep us motivated. Everyone in the dressing room wants to win the league and go up as champions.

“We can only do what we can control. We have to try and win every game possible and see what happens at the end.”

Second-placed Rotherham trail league leaders Coventry by five points in the standings, and with nine games remaining Ogbene says he has his eyes on achieving his own personal targets.

“I’m confident in myself right now,” he added. “I’m more consistent with my ability and I’m getting crosses in and being confident in taking on defenders.

“With the help of the management, they are helping me make better decisions in the final third and that’s proving dangerous in the last few games.

“I have a target in mind in terms of assists, because that’s what I can try and do the most as a winger. My job is to supply for the strikers.

“My ambition in each game is to get in the box, supply balls into the box and make things happen for the team.”
