LANG GETS PLAUDITS

LEAGUE ONE

- By Ross Reid

LEAM Richardson has hailed the “application and work-rate” of returning striker Callum Lang.

The 22-year-old scored four goals in his first five games for Wigan since coming back from a loan spell at Motherwell.

Boss Richardson said: “Callum has been excellent for us.

“He epitomises the effort levels we need if we are going to stay up. It’s infectious.”

BRADFORD’S chief executive Ryan Sparks is confident Mark Trueman and Conor Sellars are the right fit to take the club forward.

The pair took over on an interim basis with the club 22nd after eight defeats and just one win in 11 matches led to the sacking of Stuart McCall.

They were given permanent contracts until the end of the season this week after picking up 24 points from a possible 33, and Sparks said: “We are fully confident they can continue to take us forward on the field.

“They understand that mediocrity is something we will never accept.”

PLYMOUTH boss Ryan Lowe praised his side’s “bouncebackability” as they fought back to beat promotion-chasing Lincoln City in a seven-goal thriller.

Lowe said: “We asked for a bit of bouncebackability from the group and you don’t like losing any game of football, but you don’t want back-to-back home defeats.”

Argyle lost 3-0 to Peterborough on Tuesday, but staged a remarkable recovery against Lincoln.

Skipper Joe Edwards won it following Conor Grant’s leveller, with Argyle fighting back from 3-2 down after leading 2-0 through early goals by Kell Watts and Danny Mayor.

Conor McGrandles made it 2-1 by half-time and then Jorge Grant scored two penalties in the space of three second half minutes to put City ahead.

Lowe said: “We said to the group to try and bounce back from the defeat on Tuesday night and they did that in the second half because when you go down

3-2 it’s easy accept it.

“But we didn’t we kept going, kept fighting. We were deserving winners. I am proud of the team.”

Argyle got off to a flying start, with

Watts turning in Conor Grant’s cross from the right after just three minutes.

Mayor doubled the lead 10 minutes later, latching on to a Tyrese Fornah pass before unleashing a low shot past Alex Palmer.

City hauled themselves back into it when McGrandles drove low into the corner. And the game turned on its head in three second-half minutes as Jorge Grant converted two penalties in the space of three minutes.

He first levelled after Watts fouled Brennan Johnson and then put the Imps ahead after being felled by Mayor.

Conor Grant made it 3-3 in the 77th minute with a measured strike to beat Palmer. And Edwards smashed home a stoppage time winner to secure the win.

City boss Michael Appleton said: “In terms of performance there was a lot to be admired, but just some silly errors.

“That’s the first away game we have lost in a long, long time. It hurts and it’s disappointing.

“We just have to be more clinical when we have the chances. If we had made it 4-2 after going 3-2 up then it’s game over.”
