SADLIER GLEE AT PLAYING RETURN

- By Ben Pound

ROTHERHAM winger Kieran Sadlier was overjoyed to return to action following injury.

The 26-year-old came on as a second-half sub against Norwich after three months on the sidelines with an ankle issue.

“It was a long time coming, it has been a bit of a frustrating time for me, but it felt great to be back,” he said. “I got out there and all I wanted to do was run around the place and play a game.

“It has been over three months since I last played and I haven’t had any warm-up games or anything.

“I haven’t been able to train that much because of the weather and the impact it’s had on the pitches.

“I can’t train on astrturf for quite a while following my operation, so I’ve just been in the gym for most of the time.

“It was just relief mixed with joy to play again.”

Sadlier is confident Rotherham can fight off relegation and stay up.

He added: “We’ve got a big squad and a good one at that. I think that we have every chance of staying up. It is a strange league, and everyone can beat everyone.

“The boys have got some really good results in the past few weeks and there’s no reason why we can’t hit those levels again.”

KYRIL Louis-Dreyfus’ takeover has “lifted everyone” at Sunderland, according to boss Lee Johnson.

The 23-year-old’s purchase of the club was confirmed recently and has coincided with an impressive run of form for the Black Cats.

Johnson said: “I think it has lifted everyone.

“Kyril coming in and setting out his plans verbally, and the actions on the back of that, leads us in a direction.

“That messaging has to come from the top and then we become disciples of that message.”
