Team mates
Best mate?
I get along with everybody, really. We’ve got different cliques for different things - we’ve got a coffee crew, we’ve got a Call of Duty crew - but the two guys I probably spend the most time with are Callum Elder and George Honeyman. We always talk on a daily basis, so those two, even though I love them all!
Last to buy dinner?
I’d have to say Callum Elder, because he always seems to have crocodiles in his pockets! It seems to be when the bill comes around that he’s the first one to go to the toilet. Worst dressed? The worst dressed used to be Martin Samuelsen, but he’s out on loan now (at Danish side AaB), so I’d have to say Mallik Wilks. He has this fascination where he thinks designer stuff is fashion, so you’ve got a lot of ‘interesting’ colours going on. It’s just carnage, it’s not acceptable...
Dressing room DJ?
It’s normally Reece Burke, but of late it’s been Jacob Greaves. They both do pretty well. Burkey is more dance music, while Greavesy does house music, just something to get your feet tapping when you’re getting ready to go for a game. Always late for training? Mallik Wilks is one, while Josh Emmanuel is always on the brink, just making it on time. There have been a couple of times with Mallik where he’s forgot to set his alarm, but nothing drastic in terms of him missing training. It’s more just ‘come on in, pay your fine, see you on the training pitch’.
Teacher’s pet?
I would say Greg Docherty or George Honeyman. Whatever the gaffer says, it’s like ‘yes, no problem’ before he has a chance to finish his sentences and stuff, so they’re the teacher’s pets.
First on the dancefloor?
I’d have to say Tom Eaves, because he’s happy-go-lucky that man. He’s up there, no problems, and he’s got alright moves for a big man.
Most likely to disgrace themselves at the Christmas party?
I’m not sure about that one. Maybe Reece Burke with his Christmas jumper, but apart from that we’re all well behaved. There’s no carnage and there’s no really bad tales from parties we’ve had in the past.
Best at FIFA?
No-one really plays it everyone is on Call of Duty. Reece Burke is pretty good at that.
Worst tattoo?
Mallik Wilks has a dollar sign on his neck. That’s the only really bad one in the squad that stands out.
Best future manager?
I’d say me and Richie Smallwood. During my career, I’ve picked up how I would like to play if I was a manager. Because you’ve played the game, you know what players like and don’t like, so I think when you’re a manager it’s mostly about man-management. You’ve got to have good training sessions and you’ve got to be firm with people.
I think that gets respect and that will translate on to the pitch.
I’m doing my coaching badges and I’ve nearly completed them. That will probably be an avenue
I’ll be looking to go down.
It doesn’t really bother me what level because it would mean being able to stay in football, which would be a big plus for me.
