Tisdale joy as his Boro keep on climbing...

- By Gary Sergeant

PAUL Tisdale believes confidence is starting to flow through his attackers after Boro made it five games unbeaten in League Two with a comfortable win.

At the start of the month, his side were looking nervously over their shoulders, but they will end January 12 points clear of danger.

The result at the Lamex Stadium never looked in doubt once the hosts swept into a 2-0 lead after 21 minutes, with the visitors producing a lethargic performance that exasperated the supporters that had made their way down from Yorkshire.

Goals from Jake Reeves, Luke Norris and Jake Taylor helped Boro to continue their climb away from the lower reaches of the table.

Tisdale was delighted with his side, and he said: “Finishing is down to confidence and it’s being relaxed, taking a deep breath and also knowing your route to goal.

“We’re beginning to find our route to goal and we know what that’s going to look like.

“Luke Norris is getting that confidence now, Jake Taylor is scoring goals and I cannot complain.

“I’m pleased for all of them to get a clean sheet – we’re due one of those at home.”

Stevenage went ahead in the ninth minute when the ball was headed out as far as Reeves, whose effort from just outside the box was too much for Harrogate keeper Mark Oxley.

They doubled their lead when Reeves’ through ball found Norris in acres of space and the striker advanced before stroking the ball into the net from the edge of the area.

There was almost a bizarre third for the hosts before half-time when Zain Westbrooke charged down Josh Falkingham’s clearance and Oxley only just smuggled the ball behind.

But the result was wrapped up with nine minutes left when Taylor was allowed to run into the area unchallenged before finding the bottom corner.

Jack Muldoon hooked Harrogate’s best effort of the afternoon wide and boss Simon Weaver said: “We put in a tired performance that was devoid of energy at times.

“We gift-wrapped them the first two goals when there was nothing between the teams – we just gave the ball away for the second goal, which was criminal.”
