SHEA’S UPBEAT AS THE HATTERS IMPRESS

- CHAMPIONSHIP By Aaron McLoughlin

LUTON goalkeeper James Shea hopes the club’s “massive momentum” can carry them all the way through to secure a successful ending to the campaign.

The Hatters sat third going into the international break following a run of three wins from their past four games to put them very much in the promotion shake-up.

While there are set to be plenty more twists and turns ahead over the run-in, 30-yearold shot-stopper Shea feels Nathan Jones’ well-drilled squad have what it takes to last the distance over the remaining eight matches.

“Momentum is massive, absolutely massive, especially in the Championship,” said Shea.

“We have got a good group of boys with us at the minute.

“We have had a few injuries lately, so whoever comes in has stepped up and kept the chain going.

“Within the group, we always had the belief where we could try and sneak into the play-offs, that was the belief of the team.

“We wanted to improve on last season, we finished 12th and for us where we stayed up on the last day of the season the season before, it was just about improving.

“Before the season started we thought we made a few good signings, we thought maybe get in and around the play-offs.

“To be fair, the momentum just keeps going and going – you turn up to games thinking you can win every game.”

The Hatters have come a long way since Shea joined the then League Two club during the summer of 2017.

“We are just enjoying the ride at the minute,” he said.

“Hopefully we can get in the play-offs. “We are going to take each game as it comes and see where it takes us.”
