A van driver is to face trial at Dum­fries Sher­iff Court on a charge of driv­ing dan­ger­ously on the A75 road near Cas­tle Dou­glas.

John Foster, 56, ofTorrs Cot­tage, Kirkcud­bright, pleaded not guilty to com­mit­ting the of­fence ear­lier this year by car­ry­ing out an over­tak­ing ma­noeu­vre in dark­ness con­trary to a solid white line and caus­ing the driver of an on­com­ing ve­hi­cle to brake harshly and nar­rowly avoid a col­li­sion.

Trial has been set for Novem­ber.

A 35-year-old man who was found in pos­ses­sion of ec­stasy at the Eden Fes­ti­val in June has been fined £300 at Dum­fries Sher­iff Court.

Greig Pick­thall, of High Street, Gate­house, ad­mit­ted com­mit­ting the of­fence at Rae­hills in June.

The court was told that he had been stopped at the en­trance and found to have 15 tablets worth £150.

Mean­while a 21-year-old man from Market Dray­ton will face trial on three charges of be­ing in pos­ses­sion of drugs at the fes­ti­val.

Ed­ward Bam­forth pleaded not guilty to be­ing in pos­ses­sion of cannabis, co­caine and ec­stasy.

His trial was set for De­cem­ber.

A woman, who drove with more than dou­ble the per­mit­ted drink limit in her breath in Cas­tle Dou­glas, has been fined £400 and banned from driv­ing for 12 months.

Claire Crax­ton, 32, from Newmilns, pleaded guilty to com­mit­ting the of­fence in Academy Street in Cas­tle Dou­glas last month.
