ONE DEAD IN SMASH
Crash tragedy closes A75
A driver died in a car smash on the A75 yesterday.
The man was killed when the Renault Scenic he was driving crashed at the Glenterry junction on the Gatehouse bypass just before noon.
The A75 was closed for several hours so investigations could be carried out into the one-vehicle incident.
A lengthy diversion was put in place.
A police spokesman said: “We are appealing for witnesses. In particular, we’d like to hear from anyone who had a dash camera running at the time.”
In a separate incident, a 51year-old biker from Denmark suffered a broken leg and wrist after a collision with a tractor on the C5, near Crocketford, on Tuesday evening.
The rider was taken to Dumfries Infirmary, while the tractor driver escaped injury.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
