Grand pa­rade

Kirkcud­bright’s an­nual grand pa­rade takes place on Satur­day.

Or­gan­is­ers are hop­ing there will be plenty of en­tries with judg­ing set to take place at Millflats from 1.30pm.

The pro­ces­sion starts at 2.15pm with the pa­rade – which will fea­ture Kirkcud­bright and Dis­trict Pipe Band and An­nan Town Band – ex­pected to arive in Har­bour Square at around 4pm.

There will be plenty of en­ter­tain­ment in Har­bour Square all day in­clud­ing chil­dren’s rides, a beer tent and a bar­be­cue.

Tide times mean this year’s Kirkcud­bright Ro­tary Club Duck Race will also take place this week­end, the ac­tion start­ing from the har­bour at 1pm on Sun­day.

And Satur­day, Au­gust 28, is when the Sum­mer Fes­tiv­i­ties reach their cli­max with the grand flood­lit tat­too.

The star at­trac­tions this year will be Trim the Vel­vet Ir­ish dancers and the Royal Marine Cadets.

The fol­low­ing day is also busy in Kirkcud­bright with a farm­ers’ mar­ket, vin­tage fair and the pop­u­lar clas­sic car rally in Har­bour Square, with cars gath­er­ing from 9.30am.
