Town secures heart machine
Community effort and backing from project
Dalbeattie now has a defibrillator thanks to the People’s Project and a real community effort.
Fiona Blandford, from the Bridge Wellness Centre in Dalbeattie, came up with the idea and after receiving a cheque for £1,000 from the People’s Project and donations from individuals and organisations in the town, the defibrillator is now in place.
The People’s Project’s Bustin’ a Gut challenge has been raising money for worthwhile causes and the Dalbeattie project was just one of four they have been able to help.
Donations also came from Dalbeattie Bowling Club, Dalbeattie Lions Club, Stewartry Care, the Friends of Stewartry Care and Myra Robertson among others.
Fiona said: “The donation from the People’s Project was wonderful but it was also a real community effort. Everyone’s been so generous.
“It’s one of those items that you have but hope you won’t need. It’s nice to know it’s there, though, just in case.”
