No cup run for Saints
St Cuthbert Wanderers’ Scottish Cup adventure is over for another year.
The South of Scotland League champs were beaten in the first preliminary round by East title holders Leith Athletic at St Mary’s Park on Saturday.
After a goalless first half, Leith took the lead when Kyle Fee’s corner found its way into the Saints net with the help of a home player.
Fee added the second midway through the second half and he struck again 10 minutes from time to send Leith through. This weekend Saints are away to Mid Annandale. The Lockerbie side has made a good start to the season and were top of the table after their first three games.
However, on Saturday they lost in a thrilling game to Creetown.
Saints were in mid table before last night’s matches but had played one less game than league leaders Wigtown who have won all of their first four games.
