Three Albatec cars head to France
Kirsty Riddick is closing in on second place in this year’s MSA British Rally Championship. The Haugh of Urr co-driver and Ulsterman Jonathan Greer took third overall and second of the British championship entries on the John Mulholland Motors Ulster Rally at the weekend in their Pirelli-backed Citroen DS3 R5. It was enough to lift them both into third place in their respective championships, Riddick now just eight points behind second-placed James Morgan in the co-driver category with just September’s Isle of Man Rally to go. Albatec Racing are sending three cars to the French round of the World Rallycross Championship next month.
The Lochfoot team’s principal Andy Scott will be joined at Lohéac-Bretagne by reigning European champ Tommy Rustad and French RX race winner Phillippe Maloigne.
All three will be driving in the team’s 600bhp Peugeot 208 RX Supercars on the biggest event in the rallycross calendar, which takes place from September 2 to 4.
Scott said: “It’s always a fantastic event at Lohéac, with massive crowds who are very passionate about rallycross. It’s the number one motorsport in France. We always have a great weekend there where performance is boosted by the strong support of the fans. It’s almost like a home event for me.
“I’m really looking forward to taking Tommy to Lohéac so he can experience what is arguably the biggest rallycross event of the year, and Philippe too. After a strong run of races in the French Rallycross Championship it will be really interesting to see how this measures up against the World RX stars.”
