Focus on fundraising
A charity calendar full of amazing pictures taken throughout the region has raised nearly £ 1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Members of the Dumfries and Galloway Through a Lens group sold 248 calendars in aid of the charity.
Jade White, who started the Dumfries and Galloway Through a Lens Facebook page said: “It’s been an amazing effort and well done to everyone who has taken part.
“It’s a great achievement from our little group. Our second anniversary is coming up in March and we are a friendly group that like to give back to the local community.
“We are forming friendships through our group meetings and strong relationships with local businesses supporting Dumfries and Galloway through the lens.
“I would like to thank my sister Helen England and Mandy Gough Young for their support helping me running such an interactive group of talent.”
She added: “The £926 raised will be spent within the region and it was so nice of Claire Drummond and Linda from Macmillan to praise the standard of the images within our calendar.”
Sandy Robertson was also announced as the winner of the group’s Image of the Year award for his photograph of a sunset at Lochmaben in the mist.
