A char­ity cal­en­dar full of amaz­ing pic­tures taken through­out the re­gion has raised nearly £ 1,000 for Macmil­lan Cancer Sup­port.

Mem­bers of the Dum­fries and Gal­loway Through a Lens group sold 248 cal­en­dars in aid of the char­ity.

Jade White, who started the Dum­fries and Gal­loway Through a Lens Face­book page said: “It’s been an amaz­ing ef­fort and well done to ev­ery­one who has taken part.

“It’s a great achieve­ment from our lit­tle group. Our sec­ond an­niver­sary is com­ing up in March and we are a friendly group that like to give back to the lo­cal com­mu­nity.

“We are form­ing friend­ships through our group meet­ings and strong re­la­tion­ships with lo­cal busi­nesses sup­port­ing Dum­fries and Gal­loway through the lens.

“I would like to thank my sis­ter He­len Eng­land and Mandy Gough Young for their sup­port help­ing me run­ning such an in­ter­ac­tive group of tal­ent.”

She added: “The £926 raised will be spent within the re­gion and it was so nice of Claire Drum­mond and Linda from Macmil­lan to praise the stan­dard of the im­ages within our cal­en­dar.”

Sandy Robertson was also an­nounced as the win­ner of the group’s Im­age of the Year award for his pho­to­graph of a sun­set at Lochmaben in the mist.
