Unlit bollards on a busy Castle Douglas road are posing a hazard to pedestrians and motorists, Castle Douglas Community Council heard onTuesday night.
Member Fiona McGregor reported that the installations on Cotton Street were no longer working.
“People are concerned there’s nothing to indicate that there are bollards in the middle of the road,”she said.
Treasurer Martin Fortnum said:“The two islands there have been like that for months and months.
“We were told when the Co-op was originally built that they were put there for children crossing the road and for safety reasons. But they have have neglected doing anything and they are now a safety hazard.”
CDCC is to ask Dumfries and Galloway Council to make repairs.
