‘His­toric trea­sures’ for £1

Young­sters can visit some of the re­gion’s most iconic his­toric at­trac­tions for £1.

Sites such as Sweet­heart Abbey at New Abbey, Broughton House in Kirkcud­bright andTh­reave Es­tate in Cas­tle Dou­glas are in the scheme as part of the Year ofYoung Peo­ple 2018.

Young Scot has teamed up with the Na­tion­alTrust for Scot­land, His­toric En­vi­ron­ment Scot­land and His­toric Houses As­so­ci­a­tion to of­fer low-price en­try to any­one with aYoung Scot card.The card is avail­able for free to any­one liv­ing in Scot­land aged be­tween 11 and 26.

Chief ex­ec­u­tive ofYoung Scot, Louise Mac­don­ald, said: “Young peo­ple have told us they are keen to ex­plore Scot­land’s his­toric trea­sures and her­itage sites and it is won­der­ful to see the sec­tor en­gag­ing with young peo­ple in this way.”
