H GWells’ classic to tour

The Galloway News - - THE WEEKEND TICKET -

A team headed by acclaimed puppeteer Rick Conte will bring a timeless sci-fi classic to the region this month.

Scientific Romance Theatre Company will perform H G Wells’ The Time Machine in New Galloway, Dumfries and Moniaive.

The Arts Live show takes family audiences on a thrillride to a future age where things are not as they seem.

Combining puppetry, melodramatic live action and hand-painted projection, this fast-paced adaptation raises fascinating questions for inquisitive young minds.

Seventy years after his death, this Wells’ classic is widely regarded as the first work of modern science-fiction. It is as much about class, wealth discrepancy and man’s struggles as it is about time travel.

The show comes to the CatStrand, New Galloway, on February 23 at 7.30pm; Lochside Community Centre, Dumfries, on February 24 at 7pm; and Glencairn Memorial Institute, Moniaive, on February 25 at 2pm.

Tickets from 01387 253383 or www. dgartslive.org.uk. Suitable for ages seven and up.
