Organisers were delighted with the turnout for a soup and sweet event to raise funds for CLIC Sargent.
CLIC is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children, young people and their families.
Its teams provide specialist support across the UK and the Kirkcudbright event was to help say thanks for the treatment being received by a little girl and her parents from the town.
Mary Dewar and Moira Steel organised the event in the bowling club pavilion. There was a huge turnout and a total of £1,630 was raised. Mary said: “It was a tremendous response and the good thing is that all the money raised here will be spent in Dumfries and Galloway.
“It is the leading children’s cancer charity and in this particular case the family is receiving great support.”
