Get ahead with comedian Carr
For sale: one giant head, two careful owners, ideal gift for Wickerman lovers, buyer must collect.
Organisers of the popular music festival have decided to auction off a massive head that looks like comedian Jimmy Carr.
The head was originally used for a Walkers crisp advert before making its way to the festival at East Kirkcarswell near Dundrennan, where it was used as a bar.
So far more than 30 bids have been made on eBay for the head which the buyer must collect.
Patsy Gilroy, whose late husband Jamie was one of the driving forces behind the festival, said: “There comes a time and it was just taking up space in the shed that we could use for hay and other things.
“We thought we’d put him up for sale and see if anyone is interested. He’s in quite good condition but was only going to deteriorate here so hopefully someone can give him a good home.”
The head is big enough for two people to stand in and can be used as a counter to sell goods from.
And there could be other Wickerman memorabilia being auctioned off soon in a bid to recoup some of the £300,000 loss the festival posted when it was last held in 2015
Patsy added: “I think Mr Bevvy will be next, he was an old ice cream van that we had converted to sell cigarettes and water, and there’s lots of other things such as picnic tables, T-shirts and Pimms umbrellas.”
The auction is due to end today.
