Minis compete well at Moffat
Stewartry minis were in action at Moffat Rams’tournament on Sunday – the last of the season. P4/5
In perfect conditions, the youngsters had definitely saved their best for last.
First up they faced Biggar Black and ran out comfortable winners in a very complete all round performance. Next up were Dumfries Black and, despite being three tries to one up early on, the young Stewartry team contrived to lose 4-3.
Moffat were the next team up and some sublime rugby saw the Blacks run out comfortable winners by seven tries to one. The last game of their season was against a big looking Peebles White team but the young Blacks did themselves proud with another comfortable victory.
Well done to all those who played and especially the young boys who took a step up from micros rugby to P4/5 level as a taster for next season. Young Jake McCubbin and Finn Harris did really well and fitted in brilliantly with the older boys in the group and are more than ready for the step up next season. P6/7
Stewartry started the morning with a good win over a strong Biggar Black team. The Sharks did not miss a tackle the whole game and were able to take their chances to run out 2-0 winners.
Stewartry then faced an in form Dumfries Black team who dominated the breakdown and suffocated any Stewartry attacks. The Dumfries squad were deserved 3-0 victors.
The Greenlaw team later got back to winning ways with a comfortable 4-1 win against the home Moffat team.
The final game of the season was against Peebles White.
The game was very evenly matched with very few clear cut chances for either team. Near the end of the game Peebles scored and then scored against just on the final whistle to take the game 2-0. Well done to Peebles Blue on being the overall winners.
The coaching team is very proud of all the players and the effort they put in at Moffat and all season.
