Insight on charity
Robin Hood from SWS RnR was the speaker at the April meeting of Clare brand SWI.
Mrs Mary Burney welcomed everyone and began by congratulating Olive Kirkpatrick and Lilian Jardine who had passed their hand-knitting tests before handing the meeting over to Robin.
Robin began his talk by explaining that SWS RnR is a local charity which helps soldiers returning from war zones who have lost limbs or suffer from combat stress etc to help build a new life for themselves.
A house was donated to the charity where the veterans can stay for a while to recover and whilst there they receive counselling.
Mary thanked Robin for his most inspiring talk and wished him every success in this venture.
The proceeds from the sales table, amounting to £40, was donated to the charity. Robin very kindly judged the competitions. Landscape photo: 1 Mary Burney; 2 Jean Galloway; 3 Pat Kingstree.
