Butchers win awards
Dalbeattie butcher TH Carson came out on top at the SouthWest Scotland Beef Sausage Championships recently.
The award was handed out at the Scottish Craft Butcher Awards, held in Garfield House Hotel, Stepps, and TH Carson will now compete against the other four regional champions in the final later this month.
Grierson Brothers in Castle Douglas also performed well, picking up two gold awards and a silver for their bacon and burgers.
Paul Boyle, president of the Scottish Craft Butchers, said: “These evaluations always reveal really appealing products that craft butchers make and sell.
“The superior quality of home cured products is widely acknowledged by customers and the innovative range comes as a response to customers becoming more adventurous with their tastes.”
