Saints boss sets targets
Progression is the main aim for St Cuthbert Wanderers this season.
Ahead of the big kick-off in the league this weekend, manager Craig Fraser has set out his aims for the campaign which begins away to Dumfries YMCA on Saturday.
He said: “The guys are ready to go. They’ve worked on their fitness, they’ve been given tactical instructions, now they just want a game. Last year we had to do a lot of rebuilding after an exodus of players. Now I think we need to be progressing.
“We’ve got a philosophy in place and we need to be acting on it now. We should be challenging for silverware and competing at the top of the league.
“If we could have a nice run in the Scottish Cup that would be great as well.”
Saints will be without Tyler Rennie and Jek Kiltie who are suspended for the game.
However, new signing Dale Milligan will be fit.
The midfielder, who spent last season with Heston Rovers, scored in a 1-1 friendly draw with Juniors side Annbank United at Cambusdoon Sports Club.
Craig added: “Saturday was a good game and a very worthwhile exercise. They were a good side. They weren’t as physical as Lesmahagow the week before but we still learned a lot.
“Guys got a lot of minutes under their belts and that’s what we were looking for. We went ahead in the game but we conceded about 10 minutes from the end. We like to play the Junior teams as there’s a wee bit of niggle in the games and we’ll come up against that quite a bit next season.”
