David mas­ters poor con­di­tions

The Dou­glas Maxwell Me­mori a l Cham­pi­onship was played over the Kirkcud­bright course on Sun­day.

The weather was atro­cious with strong gust­ing winds and con­stant rain through­out which made it a tough test of golf over the 36 holes. How­ever the con­di­tions didn’t worry the win­ner, David Brodie (NS) who carded a su­perb 18 hole score in the af­ter­noon, with a round of 64.

Re­sults: 1 D Brodie 136; 2 M Grun­well 143; 3 I Rae 145; 4 C Gray 146.

The 18 hole morn­ing hand­i­cap com­pe­ti­tion was won by C McMil­lan (5) 66 with run­ner up N Wat­son (3) 67.

The Dou­glas Maxwell was a qual­i­fy­ing com­pe­ti­tion for the Kirkcud­brighshire Or­der of Merit and af­ter the penul­ti­mate cham­pi­onship with only the Shamash now to be played on Septem­ber 23, the lead­ing scores are: I Rae (Kbt) 20 pts; W Wat­son (Kbt) 19 pts; D Bor­land (S) 15 pts; R Mur­ray (S) 15 pts; C Rid­dick (S) 11 pts; C Smith (Dal) 10 pts; G McMil­lan (GH) 10 pts; J Picken (Kbt) 9 pts.

Cas­tle Dou­glas The Derby Cup was played at the club re­cently. Our pic­tures shows Mrs A Gor­don pre­sent­ing the cup to win­ners M McGre­gor and A Laird from Lochmaben.
