David masters poor conditions
The Douglas Maxwell Memori a l Championship was played over the Kirkcudbright course on Sunday.
The weather was atrocious with strong gusting winds and constant rain throughout which made it a tough test of golf over the 36 holes. However the conditions didn’t worry the winner, David Brodie (NS) who carded a superb 18 hole score in the afternoon, with a round of 64.
Results: 1 D Brodie 136; 2 M Grunwell 143; 3 I Rae 145; 4 C Gray 146.
The 18 hole morning handicap competition was won by C McMillan (5) 66 with runner up N Watson (3) 67.
The Douglas Maxwell was a qualifying competition for the Kirkcudbrighshire Order of Merit and after the penultimate championship with only the Shamash now to be played on September 23, the leading scores are: I Rae (Kbt) 20 pts; W Watson (Kbt) 19 pts; D Borland (S) 15 pts; R Murray (S) 15 pts; C Riddick (S) 11 pts; C Smith (Dal) 10 pts; G McMillan (GH) 10 pts; J Picken (Kbt) 9 pts.
Castle Douglas The Derby Cup was played at the club recently. Our pictures shows Mrs A Gordon presenting the cup to winners M McGregor and A Laird from Lochmaben.
